The Eleceed anime, an adaptation of one of the world's most-read action webtoons, now has a premiere month: April 2027 on Japanese TV. The official website announced it on Wednesday, October 21, alongside an English version of the trailer. Crunchyroll has confirmed it will stream the anime when it airs in Japan; it has not yet detailed regions or dubs.

The series was announced in July 2025 for a 2026 premiere and was later pushed to early 2027 without explanation. Now the month is set.

Who is making it

  • Studio: DandeLion Animation Studio, which worked on The First Slam Dunk
  • Director: Hiroshi Nishikiori (Honey Lemon Soda)
  • Series composition and scripts: Yousuke Kuroda (My Hero Academia)
  • Character design: Minami Sakura
  • Music: Taku Iwasaki
  • Lead: Junya Enoki, the voice of Yuji Itadori in Jujutsu Kaisen

One detail stands out in the cast list: the voice of Kayden, the agent who becomes a cat, is still hidden behind question marks. In the Japanese version the characters have local names: lead Jiwoo is Yu Kazahaya, and Wooin is Jin Tatsuoka (voiced by Tasuku Hatanaka).

What is Eleceed

Eleceed is a South Korean webtoon written by Son Jeho (SJH) and drawn by ZHENA, running since October 2018. According to the official site, it had passed 1.75 billion combined views by May 2026; according to Crunchyroll, it has 408 episodes on WEBTOON. The story follows Jiwoo, a kind boy with superhuman reflexes who hides his powers, and Kayden, one of the world's strongest agents, who, wounded in an ambush, ends up stuck in the body of a fat, fluffy cat. The two end up sharing a home, and a lot of arguments.

The webtoon is available officially on WEBTOON in seven languages, and in Japan on LINE Manga. With Solo Leveling and other Korean hits becoming anime, Eleceed is one of 2027's bets for fans of the format. April marks the start of the spring anime season in Japan.
