Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 drops all 10 episodes on Netflix this Tuesday at 12 a.m. PT

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 premieres on Netflix this Tuesday, October 20, with all 10 episodes available at once rather than on a weekly schedule. The show's official account shared a map of launch times around the world, confirming a simultaneous global release that starts at midnight in Los Angeles.

The series is a Netflix exclusive. Studio Trigger, which animated the first season, is back on animation in partnership with CD PROJEKT RED, the studio behind Cyberpunk 2077. Kai Ikarashi, who directed episode 6 of the original series, directs; Ichigo Kanno handles character design, Masahiko Otsuka writes the screenplay, and CD PROJEKT RED's Bartosz Sztybor returns as showrunner and story writer.

A new story, without David

Edgerunners 2 does not continue David Martinez's story. CD PROJEKT RED describes it as a standalone 10-episode series with a new set of characters whose paths cross in Night City, in a tale of revenge and redemption. The four leads revealed so far are Weak Kingsley, a veteran edgerunner living in the shadow of his former glory; D, a Snake Nation netrunner hunting the killer who wiped out his clan; Roman Carax, a young film buff who documents other people's lives; and Talia Yang, raised in the corpo towers and hardened by the Maelstrom gang.

The English cast includes Clancy Brown as Weak Kingsley, Kimoy Lee as Talia Yang and Valeria Rodriguez as Roman Carax. In Japanese, the leads are voiced by Kentaro Tone, Koki Uchiyama, Momoka Terasawa and Akari Kito.

On Monday, October 19, the official account confirmed a cameo: Hideo Kojima, creator of Metal Gear and Death Stranding, returns as Hideyoshi Oshima, the braindance producer players could spot at the Konpeki Plaza hotel during Cyberpunk 2077's The Heist mission.

Why expectations are high

The first season came out in September 2022, also with 10 episodes, and became one of Netflix's most acclaimed anime, while sending many players back to Cyberpunk 2077. CD PROJEKT RED announced the October 20 date in August alongside a new trailer. Netflix had not listed the audio and subtitle options for each country at the time of publication; the series page in the app is the safest place to check.
