Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 remakes are out on Switch 2 with launch discounts

The Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 remakes launched on Nintendo Switch 2 on Friday, October 16, as digital releases on the eShop. These are native versions running on the console, not the cloud-streaming editions the original Switch got in 2022. Capcom announced the launch during the September 9 Nintendo Direct. The games are sold separately; there is no three-game bundle.

US eShop prices

• Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition: $29.99, down from $39.99 (25% off).
• Resident Evil 3: $19.79, down from $29.99 (34% off).
• Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition: $39.99, down from $49.99 (20% off).
• Nintendo's store lists the discounts as running through November 7 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific time.

All three support TV, tabletop and handheld modes, and their store pages list English plus Latin American Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese among the supported languages.

What each edition includes

Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition bundles the main game, the Separate Ways bonus scenario starring Ada Wong, The Mercenaries mode and extra outfits for Leon and Ashley. Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition adds a set of costumes for Leon and Claire plus bonus weapons. Resident Evil 3 includes Jill's classic costume and Carlos's classic look.

Physical copies are further out: Capcom has them dated for January 29, 2027.

Why it matters

With the three remakes in place, Switch 2 now runs almost all of the series' modern era natively: Resident Evil Requiem, the latest entry, and the Gold Editions of Resident Evil 7 and Village arrived on the console in February. The remakes first launched in 2019, 2020 and 2023 and have already been on PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Apple devices. The launch lands two weeks before Halloween, peak season for horror games, and gives Nintendo-only players their first chance to play these versions without relying on a constant internet connection, as the cloud editions did.
