La Velada del Año, the streamer boxing event created by Spanish creator Ibai Llanos, is leaving Twitch for Netflix. The streaming service announced on Monday, October 19, that it will carry the next three editions, in 2027, 2028 and 2029. According to Netflix's press release, the seventh edition will stream live and exclusively on the platform, worldwide.

Financial terms were not disclosed. There is no date, host city or fight card for the 2027 edition yet: What's on Netflix reports those details will be announced closer to the event.

From a Barcelona concert venue to football stadiums

The first Velada took place in 2021 in a Barcelona concert venue, with Llanos' streamer friends trading punches in a ring. Since then the format has mixed amateur boxing bouts between creators from Spain and Latin America with live music between fights, and it now fills stadiums: Madrid's Metropolitano and Santiago Bernabéu, and Seville's La Cartuja.

The numbers explain Netflix's interest. According to the company, the fifth edition in 2025 peaked at 9.3 million concurrent viewers, and average viewership grew from about 1 million in 2021 to more than 6 million in 2026. Until now the event streamed mainly on Llanos' Twitch channel for free; in 2026 it also aired on YouTube and TikTok.

Bringing it to Netflix for the next three years gives us the opportunity to make it even bigger without losing what makes it special: the community that makes it all possible.

What it means

For English-speaking viewers, What's on Netflix points to creator boxing cards in the style of KSI and the Paul brothers, or the UK's Sidemen Charity Match as the closest comparisons, with a broader variety-show format. For Netflix, it is another step in its push into live events, which already includes wrestling and boxing, as 3DJuegos notes. For fans, the move comes at a cost: an event that used to be free will now require a Netflix subscription. Spanish outlets such as Espinof question whether the young audience that made the Velada a phenomenon will follow it behind a paywall.
