Google began rolling out Gemini's Personal Intelligence on Android Auto on Tuesday, October 20. With it, the assistant can draw on Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Photos, Maps, YouTube and your Search history to answer questions based on your own life. In cars with Google built-in, the feature arrives “in the coming months,” according to the company's official blog.

Google's examples show the idea: asking, in a single sentence, for your flight's gate and whether it is on time; finding a restaurant on your route with vegetarian options if that is your habit; driving to a doctor's appointment without knowing the address, because it is in your calendar; or finding the car wash from a photo you took. According to TechCrunch, Gemini can also warn you on the way to the airport that the flight in your calendar is delayed.

Who can use it

  • Personal Google accounts only, for users 18 and older; Workspace business, enterprise and education accounts are excluded.
  • Not available in the European Economic Area, Switzerland, the United Kingdom or Nigeria.
  • It is opt-in: no apps are connected until you turn it on, and you can switch it off at any time in Gemini settings.
  • If you already enabled Personal Intelligence in the Gemini app, the setting carries over to the car.

What it means for drivers

In the US and the other markets not on the exclusion list, the feature arrives through Android Auto, which projects your Android phone onto the car's screen. Google did not say which languages are supported. According to TechCrunch, Personal Intelligence launched in the Gemini app across the US in March 2026 and is in beta in other markets, so the rollout may be gradual outside the US.

Without the feature, Gemini in the car still handles the basics: navigation, music, calls and general questions, just without tailored answers. Gemini arrived on Android Auto in November 2025. In cars with Google built-in, Google says personal responses only appear when you are in the car with your phone connected. It is worth deciding what you want to share: the feature gives the assistant access to your email, photos and appointments.
