EA Sports confirmed on Tuesday, October 20, that Fight Night, its boxing series, is coming back. The news came from a newly created official account on X, @EASPORTSFN, with an image and a message for fans: “To everyone who stayed in our corner: Fight Night is coming back.” According to Gematsu and VGC, Electronic Arts has confirmed the game is in development.
That is all for now. EA has not said which platforms the game is coming to, when it launches, which studio is making it or which fighters are on the roster. There is no trailer either, only the teaser image.
Why the series disappeared
Fight Night had five games between 2004 and 2011, all well reviewed, and the last one, Fight Night Champion, turned 15 in 2026. After that, EA moved its combat sports focus to the EA Sports UFC series, launched in 2014. According to VGC, a key factor was the cost of licensing each boxer's likeness individually, while the UFC offers a single deal covering all of its athletes.
Fans and the boxing world have asked for a revival for years. Promoter Eddie Hearn said in 2020 that he had pitched a Fight Night idea to EA, and boxers such as Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have appeared as bonus fighters in the UFC games. VGC also notes that the announcement coincides with the completion of EA's sale to a group led by PIF, Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund.
What to expect
With no platforms or date, there is no price yet. EA's recent sports games, such as EA Sports FC and Madden, launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, but that is only a reference point: nothing has been confirmed for Fight Night. We will follow up when EA shows the first trailer.
